She's smart, she's funny, and this Wednesday she'll be in Westport. Gina Barreca , author, comedian and UConn professor, is helping the League of Women Voters of Connecticut celebrate the LWV's 90th anniversary.
You can catch "Laughter is Good for You With Gina Barreca" from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Westport Woman's Club , 44 Imperial Ave.
Barreca, who teaches English and Feminist Theory, has been called a "feminist humor maven" by Ms. Magazine. She has discussed gender, power, politics and humor on numerous TV shows, including "20/20," "48 Hours," "The Today Show," "The Joy Behar Show," and "Oprah."
Barreca has authored several books, the most recent being "It's Not That I'm Bitter, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Visible Panty Lines and Conquered the World." She also writes for the Chronicle of Higher Education and Psychology Today and has a weekly column in the Hartford Courant and a monthly column in Principal Leadership.
