WESTPORT, Conn. A Bridgeport woman who was pulled over by Westport police for license plate violations is currently being held on a warrant for deportation from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, police said.
Marli Ferreira-Cadete was spotted driving on the Sherwood Island Connector Tuesday night with no front license plate, and the rear one was hanging on by one screw, police say. When stopped, Ferreira-Cadete, 48, gave the officer a fake name and a Brazilian license, which was also fake, police said.
She was charged with first-degree forgery, criminal impersonation and various traffic violations.
When Ferreira-Cadete was taken into custody, police discovered there was a warrant for her deportation from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She is to be held indefinitely, as requested by the federal agency, police said.
Ferreira-Cadete was held on a $20,000 bond for the forgery and criminal impersonation charges and was arraigned at Norwalk Superior Court Wednesday morning.
