WESTPORT, Conn. A 45-year-old New Milford woman who was struck by a car while crossing Post Road East in Westport on Wednesday morning was given a ticket for not yielding to the car, police said.
Adrienne Garcia was transported to Norwalk Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a Mercedes SUV at the Post Road East and Playhouse Square at 6:45 a.m., Lt. Arthur Belile said.
Witnesses told police that the Mercedes, driven by Norwalk resident Saul Gideon, 60, was traveling east on the Post Road, turned left into Playhouse Square and hit Garcia, who was in the outside westbound lane of the Post Road. Gideon reportedly had the green light when he turned, Belile said.
Garcia was not in a crosswalk and was found at fault. She was issued an infraction ticket for failure to yield the right of way to a vehicle when not crossing within a crosswalk.
