WESTPORT, Conn. Norwalk resident Heather Beres was arrested in Westport Wednesday morning after she crashed her car into a utility pole on Riverside Avenue, police said.
An officer on patrol came across an unoccupied car on Riverside Avenue that had run into a utility pole, severing it at the base. When the officer stopped to inspect the car, he was approached by Beres, who said she was the driver.
While speaking to Beres, the officer smelled alcohol on her breath, police said. Beres failed field sobriety tests. Police said the results of her breath test were 0.128 and 0.122 blood alcohol levels. The legal limit is 0.08. Beres was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane and traveling too fast. She was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 19.
