While WNPR is based in Hartford, its programming is heard throughout Connecticut
Dankosky will be executive editor of the New England News Collaborative, a regional news group that includes eight public media stations in New England, including WNPR. Its coverage will focus on the New England region’s energy usage, climate, transportation, infrastructure, and its people and immigration issues.
The collaborative is paid for by a regional journalism grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, according to a press release.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented journalists in the country, and to build an organization that brings specific reporting focus to the shared issues and interests of our region,” Dankosky said.
In his new role, Dankosky will oversee reporting from all eight news bureaus, including Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network/WNPR, WBUR Boston, Maine Public Broadcasting Network, New Hampshire Public Radio, Vermont Public Radio, New England Public Radio, Rhode Island Public Radio, and WSHU Public Radio.
Under his direction, the partnership will produce reporting projects for WNPR and its partner stations, and for national programs, including Morning Edition, All Things Considered and and Here & Now.
Dankosky will transition to his new role May 2.
He will continue to appear on WNPR’s weekly news roundtable The Wheelhouse with Colin McEnroe at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
Replacing Dankosky as host of "Where We Live" will be Lucy Nalpathanchil, a reporter and host for midday programming on WNPR, including Here and Now.
