Who Are Westport's Top-Earning Employees?

If you've ever wondered who the top-earning municipal employee in Westport is, you might be surprised to learn it's not the first selectman, fire chief or police chief. The top earner in Westport this current fiscal year, not including school officials, is Director of Public Works Stephen Edwards.

According to Finance Director John Kondub, Edwards base salary this year is $126,690. If that sounds like a lot, wait until you hear what the public works director in a neighboring town is making. In Fairfield, Richard White is bringing in $146,803 this year.

After Edwards, Kondub checks in as the second top-earning municipal employee. This year, his base salary is set at $118,450. In Fairfield, Paul Hiller, the town's chief fiscal officer, is raking in $129,898 this year, $11,448 more than Kondub.

Coming in as the third-highest paid town employee in Westport for the 2010-11 fiscal year is Deputy Police Chief Dale Call at $118,070. In comparison with Fairfield, Call is earning $2,531 less than Christopher Lyddy, whose salary this year is set at $120,601.
