WESTPORT, Conn. The Westport Police Athletic League fireworks and a concert at the Levitt Pavilion are the big events this holiday week in Westport. Heres a look at whats happening around town through Thursday.
Monday, July 2
Teen summer reading kickoff: All day. The Westport Library Own the Night teen summer reading event begins. Explore the supernatural side of teen literature with books about zombies, ghosts, dystopias and more. Register online and receive a free gift. Events run through August. Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road.
Tuesday, July 3
Library closing early: In celebration of Independence Day, Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road, will close at 6 p.m.
Westport Police Athletic League fireworks: 9 p.m. Dont miss the 56th annual Westport Police Athletic League fireworks show. Compo Beach will close at 4 p.m. to clear the parking lots and reopens at 5 p.m. to ticket holders. Pre-firework performances include the Connecticut Alumni Band and Music Theatre of Connecticut. Cars entering Compo must have a ticket. Tickets are $30. Once sold out, shuttle bus passes to and from Longshore Club Park can be purchased for $30 at the police department, 50 Jesup Road, or the Parks and Recreation office, 260 Compo Road S. Fireworks at Compo Beach.

Fourth of July: Westport Town Hall and the Westport Library will be closed.
Thursday, July 5
In Harmony concert: 8 to 9:30 p.m. Dance to the music of In Harmony, a Connecticut-based doo-wop group featuring Lenny Seiter, Peter Randazzo, Scott Poarch, Robin Miller, Dee Heavrin and Adrienne Lisko. The band has performed at the White House and on CBS-FM's "Sunday Night Doo-Wop Shop" radio show, hosted by Don K. Reed. Free concert. Levitt Pavilion, 40 Jesup Road, behind the library.
