What's Happening in Weston This Week

WESTON, Conn. – A series of Board of Finance budget hearings on the 2012-2013 town and school budgets, children’s story hour, and a screening of the film “Crazy, Stupid Love,” are just some of the events happening in Weston this week. Here are some of the highlights:

Monday, March 5

7:15 p.m.: The Weston Planning and Zoning Commission will meet tonight at the Town Hall Annex building, located at 24 School Road.

7:30 p.m.: The Board of Finance will review the Board of Selectman’s 2012-2013 budget request tonight in the Town Hall meeting room, located at 56 Norfield Road. The finance board could vote on the town side of the budget tonight, but if a consensus is not reached, deliberations will continue on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, March 6

10 a.m.: Parents can introduce their children to the wonderful world of reading this morning at the Weston Public Library’s weekly Children’s Story Hour series. This morning’s program is open to children who are 2 years old. The library is located at 56 Norfield Road. For more information, contact Joy Beckwith at 203-222-2651.

2 p.m.: Children who are 3 years old are invited to attend the Children’s Story Hour series at the Weston Public Library, located at 56 Norfield Road.

7:30 p.m.: The Weston Police Commission will meet tonight in the community room of Town Hall, located at 56 Norfield Road.

Wednesday, March 7

10 a.m.: Children who are 2 years old are welcome at the Weston Public Library’s Children’s Story Hour program. The library is located at 56 Norfield Road. There is another session held at 4 p.m. for 4- and 5-year-olds.

7:30 p.m.: The Board of Finance will meet tonight to discuss and possibly vote on the 2012-2013 proposed school budget in the meeting room of Town Hall, located at 56 Norfield Road. If the finance board does not come to a decision, they are expected to continue deliberations on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 8

10:30 a.m.: The Weston Public Library’s Book Group will discuss Ernest Hemingway’s “A Moveable Feast” and Paula McClain’s “The Paris Wife” this morning at the Weston Public Library, located at 56 Norfield Road.

12 p.m.: Weston seniors are invited to attend a screening of the PG-13 film, “Crazy, Stupid Love,” starring Steven Carell, Ryan Gossling and Julianne Moore. The film follows Cal Weaver (played by Carell), a man who’s life unravels before his eyes after he learns that his wife (played by Moore) has cheated on him. The film will be shown at the Weston Senior Center, located at 9 School House Road.
