EASTON, Conn. A dogwood festival, improv comedy, musical theater and an arts show reception are some of the events in and around Easton this weekend.
Friday, May 11
Dogwood Festival: 10 a.m to 5 p.m. The Dogwood Festival offers free admission and a range of entertainment, from a Friday luncheon to a Saturday night party. The event will be at the Greenfield Congregational Church, 1045 Academy Road, Fairfield.
Second City Improv: 8 p.m. Chicagos famed Second City comedy troupe performs its Laugh Out Loud tour. Tickets are $50. The event takes place at the Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge, Ridgefield.
Saturday, May 12
Easton Arts Council reception: 7 to 10 p.m. This is a fundraising reception for the Easton Arts Councils sixth Regional Open Fine Art Juried Exhibition, which is showing 81 works from Connecticut and New York artists through May 31. Tickets are $25. The event will be at the Easton Public Library, 691 Morehouse Road.
Bartlett Arboretum's Spring Plant Sale: 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Exotic plant offerings, expert advice from the Bartlett staff and competitive pricing make this plant sale special. Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, 151 Brookfield Road, Stamford.
Georgetown Lions Carnival: 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy the carnival with $25 tickets. At Route 7 and School Road, Wilton.
Book discussion: 7:30 p.m. "The Blue Notebook," by James A. Levine, will be discussed at the Weston Public Library, 56 Norfield Road.
"The Music Man: " 8 to 10 p.m. The Bridgeport Theatre Company completes its second season with The Music Man," the Tony Award-winning musical the whole family can enjoy. Tickets are $28 for adults, $23 for seniors and $18 for students and children. The Downtown Cabaret Theatre, 263 Golden Hill St., Bridgeport.
