What's Happening in Easton This Weekend

Easton, Conn. — A tag sale, a film starring Fairfield County resident and Oscar winner Christopher Plummer, and a Travis Tritt concert are just some of the events happening in and around Easton this weekend.

Friday, March 9

8 a.m. to 12 p.m.: The Easton Senior Center is having a tag sale where residents can purchase household items, small electronics, baby items and toys. The Senior Center is at 650 Morehouse Road.

7 p.m.: In honor of the big Oscar win by resident Christopher Plummer, the Weston Public Library will have a special screening of his film “Beginners” at 7 p.m. In the film, Plummer plays the role of Hal Fields, a man who comes out of the closet to his son after his wife dies. Starring in the Mike Mills film alongside the 82-year-old actor are Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent. The library is at 56 Norfield Road. This event is free.

7 p.m.: A Musical Variety Concert that benefits WestonArts, will take place at the Norfield Grange, 12 Good Hill Road. The concert will feature ACOUSTIC WESTON students and local singers, songwriters and performers of all ages. Tickets for this family-friendly show will be available at the door and cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.

8 p.m.: Platinum selling country music recording artist Travis Tritt will take the stage and perform an acoustic show at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Tickets are $75.

Saturday, March 10

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Grab some fresh produce, herbs, honey, handmade soaps and more at the Weston Winter Farmer’s Market at the Norfield Grange, 12 Good Hill Road.  

10 a.m.: Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Bridgeport Discovery Museum with a meet and greet with women who work in technology, engineering, science, and math. The women are expected to talk about their careers and how they have changed throughout the years. While your there, check out "Fly Girls: Women Aviators in WWII," which will be on display in the space gallery.

2 p.m.: Head down to the Norwalk’s Stepping Stone Museum for Children to listen to a bell choir perform popular songs from some of the world’s favorite movie soundtracks. There will be free admission for those who purchased a museum ticket.

Sunday, March 11

11:30 a.m.: See if you can tell the difference between fresh Wilton’s Ambler Farm maple syrup or store-bought syrup in Wilton this morning. Guests also will learn about the Native American, Colonial and modern-day techniques used to create this sweet treat. This event is free.

1 p.m.: New Canaan’s Silvermine Arts Center will be showing a selection of works by guild sculptors and printmakers in a celebration of Women's History Month. The event continues throughout the month, but from 2-4 p.m. today there will be a special opening reception.
