WESTPORT, Conn. – In case you weren't able to check in with The Westport Daily Voice every day this past week, here’s a look back at some of the week’s top stories:
? Three people were killed and about 175 people were injured after two bombs exploded Monday afternoon during the Boston Marathon. The event was attended by 14 Westport runners , none of whom were injured. Of the 14 runners, 10 finished the marathon before the explosions.
? On Tuesday, Jeff Clachko and Blake Benke, two of the Westport runners who participated in the Boston Marathon, recounted the events . Clachko finished the race just 10 seconds before the first bomb went off near the finish line.
? A 2011 emotional distress lawsuit filed against a Westport police officer was dismissed this week . The case was filed by an ex-Staples High School wrestling coach who was fired after the officer discovered the coach had been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor in another state.
? A recent UConn study found that residents of Westport and other Fairfield County towns are among the least likely to go hungry in the state .
? On Friday, the hunt for Massachusetts resident Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, hit close to Westport after law enforcement officials stopped and searched an Amtrak train out of Massachusetts in East Norwalk.
