The Music Theatre of Connecticut in Westport was honored not once, but twice, in two days. On Sunday, it received the 2011 Tom Killen Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Connecticut Professional Theatre by the Connecticut Critics' Circle.
To commemorate this award, the Music Theatre of Connecticut was presented with a Connecticut State Legislative Citation on Monday from state Sen. Bob Duff, D-25th District, and state Rep. Jonathan Steinberg, D-136th District.
Directors Kevin Connors and Jim Schilling founded the nonprofit arts organization in 1987. It has presented 10 seasons of critically acclaimed musical productions.
