Westporter Charged With Tossing Rock at Cable Guy

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport resident Leigh Rhett was charged with breach of peace Friday after he threw a rock at a Cablevision installer, police said.

The Cablevision installer was working at a property next to Rhett's home at 39 Imperial Ave. and needed to access a utility pole on his property. The installer told police he went to Rhett's home to tell him what he was going to do. When there was no answer at the home, the installer set up a ladder against the utility pole and began working.

A short time later, Rhett, 54, came out of the house and demanded the worker get off his property. The worker told police Rhett shook the ladder, threw a rock at his back and left. Rhett returned a short time later and told police he was only trying to get the installer's attention. Rhett thought the installer's truck was blocking his driveway.

Rhett was issued a misdemeanor summons for breach of peace and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 15.
