Westport Woman's Body Found in Parking Lot

Updated 12/28/10, 12:15 p.m.: The body of a woman found in the rear parking lot of 166 Kings Highway N. early Tuesday morning was identified as Westport resident Cindy D'Aiuto, 48.

According to White Pages.com, D'Aiuto lived at 5 Canal St., Building 2. She was pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital later Tuesday morning, Police Capt. Sam Arciola reported. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the state's chief medical examiner's office.

The Westport Police Department asks that anyone who has had contact with D'Aiuto within the past 24 hours to contact the Detective Bureau at 203-341-6080.

Original story: The body of a middle-age woman was found in the rear parking lot of a commercial building at 166 Kings Highway N. in Westport on Tuesday morning, Police Capt. Sam Arciola reported.

According to Arciola, a newspaper carrier found the woman at about 6:30 a.m. She was taken to Norwalk Hospital. The Connecticut Post reported that one of its carriers discovered the body. On its website, the Post reported that the woman, who was not immediately identified, had not been pronounced dead due to the frigid temperatures she was exposed to. It was also reported that the woman was wearing pink pajamas and slippers.

The area of Kings Highway North from Main Street to Canal Street is limited to westbound traffic because of the ongoing investigation. The Police Department is treating the incident as suspicious. The Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit has been called in to assist.
