Westport Woman Driving on Rim Charged With DUI

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport resident Sarah Yeager was charged with drunken driving on Christmas Eve after she was spotted driving without a front right tire, police said.

An officer on patrol saw a black Honda SUV driving north on Riverside Avenue on its front right rim. When the officer stopped the car, he found that Yeager, of 6 Nutmeg Lane, had alcohol on her breath, police said.

When asked about the missing tire, Yeager, 22, stated she hit a curb, police said. Upon closer inspection of the front right wheel, the officer saw that the tire had been shredded off the rim and there was extensive damage to the rim. There was also damage to the front right panel and bumper area, police said. It was not determined exactly what Yeager struck.

Yeager refused to take field sobriety tests, but submitted to a urine test. She was released after posting a $500 bond and is due in court on Jan. 3.
