WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport’s Lisa Martins, the 15-year-old teen who had been missing since April 4, was found safe Thursday by Westport Police detectives, Capt. Sam Arciola announced.

Lisa, who is said to have run away from home, was found in Ansonia, which is about 23 miles from Westport, Arciola said. Because Lisa is a juvenile, he could not disclose any more details. But she had known ties to the Naugatuck area, police had said.

"The important thing is that she's with us and will be reunited with her family," Arciola said.

Arciola credits the work of the Westport Police Detective Bureau, who worked with several local and state agencies in searching for Lisa. He said detectives "used all the tools available to them" and followed up on all leads they received.

"They worked very, very hard on this," Arciola said. "And we're glad we got her back safe."

Arciola also thanked local news media for their assistance. When detectives "hit some road blocks," the department sent out a new release asking for the public's help.
