Westport Sets Presidential Primary

WESTPORT, Conn. – Attention Westport voters: Connecticut's presidential primary is April 24, the Registrar of Voters Office announced Friday. Because it’s a Republican primary, only registered Republicans can vote.

If you plan to vote in the primary, below are important deadline dates to keep in mind:

? Jan. 24: Voters looking to change party affiliation, and be eligible to vote in the new party's primary, must do so by this date.

? April 19: Mail-in changes of unaffiliated voters enrolling in a party must be received by the registrar's office on this date. New mail-in voter registrations must be postmarked by this date to vote in primary.

? April 23 (by noon): Deadline for registering or enrolling in-person in the registrar's office to vote in the primary.

Registered voters who wish to change affiliation in order to vote in a particular party primary should complete a voter registration card and mark "Party Change" at the top. These forms can be picked up at the Registrar of Voters Office, Room 107 at Town Hall. They can also be printed from the voter registration section on the town's website or the Secretary of the State website .

Contact the registrar's office at 203-341-1115 with any questions.
