Westport Reminds Seniors Of Tax Relief Programs

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Assessor’s Office and the Human Services Department are taking applications for state and local tax relief programs. The application date for the town and state credit programs continue through Friday, May 15.

The town programs for real estate deferral will continue through Tuesday, Dec. 29 and sewer deferral will continue through Friday, Nov. 13. As in the past, all applications will be taken by appointment only. Prior to calling, be sure to have completed personal and/or business federal and state 2014 tax returns, along with a copy of a 2014 Social Security earnings statement. 

Appointments may be made by contacting the assessor’s office at (203) 341-1070. Taxpayers who are unable to come to town hall may contact human services at (203) 341-1050 to schedule a home visit. All applicants must appear in person to file for tax relief. Residents may contact either office for additional information. Detailed information on these programs is available on the Town of Westport’s website at www.westportct.gov.
