WESTPORT, Conn. – The Westport Planning and Zoning Commission will review two text amendments to Westport Zoning Regulations at a public hearing on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Westport Town Hall Auditorium.
Text Amendment #685 (Application #14-060) was submitted by the Planning and Zoning Commission to require that all commercial tenant occupancies obtain a zoning permit. Text Amendment #686 (Application #14-042) was submitted by the Planning and Zoning Commission to create new definitions and parking standards for personal service uses (hair salons, nail salons, etc.) and fitness centers and gyms.
The amendment also limits all uses requiring 20 or more parking spaces to collector, arterial and four lane arterial streets. Joint parking, future reserve parking and “other” parking requests must now be approved by special permit.
In addition, there are requirements to comply with fire codes and changes to the parking chart in Section 34-5, including changes to parking for managed care uses and places of worship and theaters.
Anyone interested in these amendments are encouraged to attend the Planning and Zoning Commission’s public hearing. Copies of the amendments are available for viewing in Town Hall both in the Planning and Zoning Office and in the office of the Town Clerk.
The commission can receive written comments from the public in advance of the hearing. Once the hearing is closed, no more information or comments will be accepted.
