Westport Police Round Up Holiday Toys

Westport police officers David Librandi and Rich Allen were on stake-out in front of the Athletic Shoe Factory on Post Road East Saturday. But they weren't looking for bad guys -- they were collecting toys from generous community donors like Jen Bonitata.

The Westport Police Department, together with the Police Benevolent Association, is hosting its annual holiday toy drive, and through Dec. 19 it will be accepting new, unopened, unwrapped toys for Fairfield County’s needy children.

Toys can be dropped off at the police department, 50 Jesup Road, or at the Athletic Shoe Factory, where officers will be collecting toys and cash donations this weekend and next.

If you'd like to donate cash or a toy and brighten a  child’s holiday, stop by the Athletic Shoe Factory, 1560 Post Road E., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, or on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 18 and 19.

Donations will also be collected at the police department until 3 p.m. on Dec. 19.

Do you know a person or group that is helping those in need this holiday season? I want to hear about it! Leave a coment below or e-mail me at .
