WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport’s weather was sweltering Monday morning, but that didn’t stop thousands of Westporters from lining Main Street for the town’s annual Memorial Day Parade.
This year’s theme was “Our Heroes: Past and Present.” Floats drove down the route to honor veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Westport resident and World War II veteran Alphonse “Buck” Iannacone then gave a speech at Town Hall highlighting the importance of Memorial Day.
