Westport resident Matthew Packer last Thursday pleaded guilty to drunken driving and second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle in the Dec. 27, 2009, car accident that killed his friend, Westporter Lance Cpl. Charles Rochlin, a U.S. Marine.
A 2003 graduate of Staples, Rochlin, 24, was home on leave after a seven-month tour of duty in Iraq.
Packer, 26, of 106 Long Lots Road, accepted a plea arrangement under which he may face as many as three years in jail, the Connecticut Post reported. He was being held at the Bridgeport Correctional Center until his sentencing hearing April 7.
