WESTPORT, Conn. Westport resident Alexander Arias Tulio was arrested Monday after he crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole on Clapboard Hill Road and left before officers arrived, police said.
Police and firefighters responded to the crash shortly before 7:20 a.m. Monday and found the truck empty. Information gathered from witnesses during the investigation led officers to the Fairfield County Hunt Club, where they located Tulio, police said.
Tulio, 29, told officers he left the scene because he was scared. He was not injured in the crash and was the sole occupant of the truck.
He was charged with evading responsibility, failure to drive right and driving without a license. He was released after posting $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court later Monday morning.
