StEPs-CT is a two-year program created with the Connecticut League of History Organizations in partnership with the Connecticut Historical Society, that helps local museums, historical societies, libraries, and cultural groups ensure their programs and collections remain vibrant community resources.

Local grant recipients include: ·

  • Westport Historical Society - $1,500 for board development training retreat
  • Wilton Historical Society - $1,500 for creating a better website

Nearly half of the organizations will use the grant money to improve their public visibility, by purchasing new exterior site signage and lighting. Other organizations will use their grants to upgrade technology or build a better website.

“Over the past year, our StEPs-CT organizations have made great progress in areas of mission, vision, and governance, audience, and management,” said StEPs-CT program manager Scott Wands. “These grants help Connecticut institutions implement the skills and lessons learned during their training and complete critical projects that they simply can’t do on their own or with the assistance of program staff.”
