WESTPORT, Conn. Westport Third Selectman Charlie Haberstroh and Board of Finance Chairman Avi Kaner, both Republicans, are being honored by the Westport Republican Town Committee during its annual Spring Gala, the committee announced.
Charlie Haberstroh and Avi Kaner are dedicated public officials who donate their time and talents in service to Westport, Desiree Soli, chairwoman of the 2012 Westport Republicans Spring Gala said. They epitomize leadership, self-sacrifice and devotion to our town, and we are proud to have them as leaders in the Republican Party.
A Westport resident for more than 20 years, Haberstroh joined the Board of Selectmen in December 2010, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Gavin Anderson. Before joining the selectman, Haberstroh was on the Board of Finance for seven years.
Kaner, a 16-year Westporter, has been on the Board of Finance for the past seven years. He has three children going through the Westport schools system.
The gala is set for April 29 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Westport Inn. In addition to the awards ceremony, the event will serve as an opportunity for voters to meet several Republican candidates for state and federal officers. Expected attendees are U.S. Senate candidates Linda McMahon and Christopher Shays, state Sen. Toni Boucher and State Rep. Gail Lavielle. Candidates for U.S. House of Representatives are also expected.
Gala tickets are $125 per person and include cocktails, dinner and dancing. For tickets, contact Desiree Soli at 203-400-2773 or email@example.com.
