WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe and the emergency management team released the following message in preparation for the expected major winter storm this weekend:
"We expect moderate coastal flooding with this storm and want you to be prepared. A coastal flood advisory has been issued for our area by the National Weather Service.
We are recommending vehicles in flood-prone areas move to higher ground before it gets dark. Parking for residents of Saugatuck Shores is available at Lot 8 of the Westport Train Station next to exit 17. Residents in the compo and old mill beach neighborhoods should park at Longshore Club Park.
There are two high tides tomorrow, one at 10:30 a.m. and a second one at 11 p.m. Current forecasts indicate the 11 p.m. high tide could be higher and have a greater impact.
Please prepare now and monitor local media, including Staples High School radio station WWPT 90.3 FM for the latest information.
Thank you, and please use caution and stay safe during this major weather event."
