WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe is reminding residents to take steps to protect themselves against the flu.

According to the state Department of Health, influenza cases continue to increase in Connecticut and the Westport Weston Health District is reporting a significant rise in the local incidences of the virus.

The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year. Marpe is urging citizens who have not already done so to get the flu vaccine.

Visit the Westport Weston Health District’s website at www.wwhd.org or call 203-227-9571, ext. 231 to schedule an appointment for the vaccination and to get more information.
