It's April 15 did you already file your taxes? If not, don't sweat it. This year, the due date for 2010 income tax returns is Monday, April 18, so there's still time to file.
Traditionally, the tax deadline falls on April 15, unless that day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or federal holiday. This year, Emancipation Day an official public holiday in Washington, D.C., that celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the district is being observed April 15. For this reason, the IRS approved the extension of the deadline.
Although the change allows for a couple of extra filing days, this new deadline falls on Monday, the beginning of April vacation in Westport Public Schools. So if you and your family are leaving town next week, be sure to file your taxes this weekend.
