The primary concern from many residents with the new plan was the potential that the changes could restrict direct access to the beach area at Compo, a town beach, the Westport News said.

Committee members said the changes would be to improve pedestrian safety, but residents fired back pointing to the lack of major accidents in the area, the Westport News reported.
