Westport Crash Sends One to Hospital

One person was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a two-car crash on Post Road East in Westport.

Westport police, fire and EMS responded around 3:15 p.m. to the crash, which was across the street from Stop & Shop. It was initially thought one of the cars was on fire, but upon arrival, firefighters determined the smoke was from the air bag deployment.

The driver of the car with the deployed air bag was placed on a back board and transported to Norwalk Hospital with minor injuries. The other driver reported no injuries. Both cars were towed away on a flatbed truck, Assistant Fire Chief William Dingee reported.

The accident was cleared around 4:35 p.m.
