Westport Country Playhouse Enjoys Grant To Support Arthur Miller Production

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A grant of $23,250 from Connecticut Humanities to the Westport Country Playhouse will support a series of community events surrounding the Playhouse production of Arthur Miller’s “Broken Glass.”

The grant will further explore the themes of the play and the legacy of this important American and Connecticut playwright.

“The Individual & American Society: Celebrating Arthur Miller at One Hundred” will explore Miller’s life and the multi-faceted themes of his works.

Programming will include speakers, discussions, workshops, films, family events and a month-long lobby exhibit, as well as events off-campus.

The enrichment programs are designed to deepen the audience’s experience of the play.

“The support of Connecticut Humanities has been instrumental in shaping our community engagement programming,” said Michael Ross, Playhouse managing director. “It allows us to expand our partnerships with many local organizations, enhance our offerings and reach the greatest number of people. It is so gratifying to not only be able to offer world-class theater but first-rate scholarship on the importance of the arts to our lives and the world.”

Connecticut Humanities, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, provides opportunities to explore the history, literature and the vibrant culture that make the state, cities and towns attractive places to live and work.
