Concrete pouring work is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, on Church Lane from its intersection at Elm Street to the Post Road East.

Vehicular traffic will be detoured via Elm Street while the work is performed and the road is closed.

The work was scheduled for the early morning In the interest of public safety, to avoid traffic congestion in the downtown area, and to minimize neighborhood disruption, said Steve Edwards, director of public works for the town of Westport.

Church Lane is one of the streets framing the construction project on the multi-use Bedford Square development. It is rising on the former site of the Westport Weston Family Y bordered by Church Lane, Post Road East, and Main and Elm streets.

The project is scheduled for completion in about two years.
