WESTPORT, Conn. Westports beach season begins May 1, and that means parking emblems will once again be required for all cars entering the towns beaches, Parks and Recreation Stuart McCarthy announced.
McCarthy urged residents to plan ahead and buy parking emblems online through the towns website . Emblems purchased online will be delivered via regular mail within three to five business days, he said.
Its the fastest, most efficient way to purchase your parking emblems, McCarthy said.
Due to an increase in the use of online services, McCarthy said Parks and Recreation office staff and hours have been reduced. As a result, the Parks and Recreation office at Longshore Club Park will no longer offer Saturday or evening hours.
Residents who wish or need to purchase a parking emblem in person may do so from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Vehicles entering the towns beaches without a parking emblem will be required to pay the daily parking fee, which were raised last year . The new daily parking fee is $30 on weekdays and $50 on weekends and holidays.
Access to Compo Beach is one of Westports greatest gifts to its residents and getting your car emblem is a rite of spring for generations of Westporters, McCarthy said. Plan ahead and dont get stuck waiting in line or missing out on great beach days because you didnt buy your sticker online.
