WESTPORT, Conn. Westport high school students who will turn 18 on or before Nov. 6 will be eligible to vote in both the presidential primary in April and the state primary in August, the Westport Registrar of Voters announced.
In order to vote in the upcoming April 24 Republican presidential primary, eligible students must register to vote, either in person or by mail. Registration forms must be postmarked by April 19 and the deadline for in-person registration is noon on April 23.
Because its a Republican primary, these students must be registered Republicans to participate.
To vote in the Aug. 14 state primaries, voter registration forms must be postmarked by Aug. 9. Students have until noon on Aug. 13 to register in person at the registrars office for this primary.
As the state primary is expected to be a dual party primary, students registering as a Republican or a Democrat will be eligible to vote in the respective partys primary.
