The program is funded through the state Department of Revenue Services and not through the town budget, Barbara Butler, Westport director of human services, said in a press release.

The NAA program enables businesses to receive tax credits for cash contributions made to approved municipal agencies and tax-exempt organizations.

Typically, services dealing with affordable housing, child care, crime prevention, employment and training, energy conservation, open space acquisition and similar offerings for low-income people qualify for the NAA program.

The minimum contribution for which a tax credit may be granted is $250, while the maximum eligible contribution is $150,000.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 20.

The Representative Town Meeting will select applications at its Tuesday, June 2, meeting, and then submit them to the state before July 1.

For more information, visit the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services website.

All applications should be submitted to Barbara H. Butler, director, Westport Department of Human Services, 110 Myrtle Ave., Westport, CT 06880.
