Weston Selectmen To Address Town Budgets

WESTON, Conn. – The fate of the town and school 2012-13 budget proposals are just one of the many agenda items listed for the Weston Board of Selectmen during its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

First Selectman Gayle Weinstein is asking the selectmen to approve her budget request of $11,425,652, which calls for a 2.16 percent increase in spending over this year. Superintendent of Schools Colleen Palmer is proposing an increase of 0.93 percent, or $420,854. The total budget request for education cost is $45.6 million. The spending plans will cover July 2012 to June 2013.

The hefty agenda, which consists of 14 posted discussion points, will also include a possible acceptance of the Weston Police Department’s recent acquisition of two Humvees, the future of the Lachat property and the appointment of Susan Moch as the moderator and Robert Uzenoff as the alternate moderator for the Annual Town Budget Meeting.

Weston residents are encouraged to attend tonight’s public meeting, which will be held at the Town Hall meeting room, located at 56 Norfield Road.
