WESTON, Conn. — The town of Weston will lower the flag and hold a prayer vigil at noon Friday in response to the deadly shootings in Dallas on Thursday night.

The event will be at Town Hall.

"The Town of Weston is deeply saddened by the events that took place in Dallas last night," said a post at the town's website. "There will be a lowering of our Town Hall flag and prayers for the fallen Dallas Police Officers at noon followed by a moment of silence. Please join us."

On Thursday evening, 12 police were shot by snipers during a peaceful street protest against police violence. Five of those officers were killed. It was the deadliest attack on U.S. police officers since Sept. 11, 2001.
