WESTON, Conn. -- Keith Zaffutto withdrew his acceptance as Weston's new police officer in a letter Monday.
Zaffutto wrote to Police Chief John Troxell, "It is with great regret that I have to withdraw from the Weston police officer process at this time. Unfortunately I have to do so for personal reasons that would interfere with me going to the police academy this year."
Rick Phillips, chairman of the Police Commission, said in an email to The Daily Weston, "The Police Commission is disappointed but we have a strong #2 candidate who is stepping into the position."
Daniel Cascone, 24, of Newtown accepted a conditional offer from the commission. The offer is subject to his passing a polygraph test, a psychological exam, a pre-employment physical and drug screening, a full background investigation and the Cooper Standard physical agility test.
