WESTON, Conn. After receiving several requests from Weston taxpayers, the town now offers online bill payments. As of July 1, Weston residents can pay their property and automobile taxes online with a credit card, debit card or e-check.
Sharon Shattuck, information systems manager, said she doesn't expect many people to make a full payment online immediately but she does expect partial payments.
"It's easier on a credit card. For me, rather than writing a check, I used an e-check and paid the $2 fee and I could do it from my house," said Shattuck.
There is a $2 fee to use an e-check and a 3 percent surcharge when using a credit or debit card. Taxpayers can still mail their payments or deliver them in person to the Town Hall.
Using a credit card might be beneficial to those who receive rewards - such as 5 percent back - for using the card.
