Saturday, April 30

• 8:15 a.m. to noon: Green Up Day, Weston. Paper bags to fill with trash will be available at the barn adjacent to the Norfield Congregational Church Parish Hall.

10 to 11 a.m.: Weston Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge local lunch event, Weston Library Community Room.

• 4 to 5 p.m.: Vernal Pool Preview Program, Weston Public Library Community Room. Join Naturalist Chris Evers of Animal Embassy and enjoy his photographs of life in and around the vernal pools in a digital slide presentation. Meet a variety of creatures, likely including spotted salamanders, a spotted turtle, gray tree frogs and more. Sign up at the library or by emailing friendsofthewestonlibrary@gmail.com.

Tuesday, May 3

• 6:30 p.m.: "Growing Sustainably in Connecticut," Norfield Grange, 12 Good Hill Road. Speakers Dina Brewster of the Hickories in Ridgefield, Annie Farrell of Millstone Farm in Wilton and John Holbrook of Holbrook Farm in Bethel will discuss farming practices, the local food movement and ways to grow and distribute to the community. A meet and greet with refreshments will start at 6:30 and the event will start at 7:15 p.m. The moderator will be Analiese Paik from the Fairfield Green Food Guide. Saturday, May 7

• 2 to 3:30 p.m.: Amy Rogell performs in a free children's concert, Emmanuel Nursery School, 285 Lyons Plains Road. Each family is asked to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the Weston Food Pantry.

• 4 p.m.: Kentucky Derby Party, Norfield Grange, 12 Good Hill Road. Watch the race on the Grange's jumbotron. Call 203-226-8233 for reservations.
