Axel Guzman, 36, of North Calvin Road, was arrested Sunday for his alleged involvement in a shooting that afternoon at a housing complex in Bridgeport. Weston police and other police departments received notice of the shooting from Bridgeport police and recognized the name and description. An on-duty officer spotted Guzman behind the service center, where he is manager, and took him into custody without incident until Bridgeport police arrived.
The victim was shot in the stomach at the Trumbull Gardens Apartments, a public housing complex at 340 Trumbull Ave. in Bridgeport, according to published reports. The injuries were not life threatening, but he was in critical condition at St. Vincent's Hospital, according to published reports. The victim's identity was not released.
Bridgeport police would not release details of the charges against Guzman.
