Weston Little League Delivers on Its Promise

WESTON, Conn. ? A few months back, Westonite Rich Hassan made a promise to the youth baseball organization in Adonia, Dominican Republic. Now that promise has been fulfilled.

While on a trip to the Dominican Republic over the summer, Hassan realized that the young boys and girls in the baseball program came from meager beginnings. Many did not have uniforms, gloves or cleats. In fact, many played in flip flops or, even worse, barefoot.

Hassann, president of the Weston Little League, knew he had to do something, so he came up with the idea to donate the league’s used supplies and uniforms from this year’s program to the teams of Adonia.

In October, the kids from Weston collected the uniforms and equipment as part of the Shirts Off Our Back program, and this past weekend Hassan brought them to Adonia.

Weston reader Jodi Sacchetta sent us these pics of the Weston event and of Hassan’s trip.
