WESTON, Conn. — Nina Daniel and Bruce Lorentzen have been reappointed to the Weston Commission on Aging.
Daniel and Lorentzen were reappointed through a recommendation of the Weston Republican Town Committee (RTC) to serve their third two-year term on the commission.
Daniel has lived in Weston for 40 years, and earned Citizen of the Year honors last year for her activity in the community. Along with a spot on the Commission on Aging, she served on the Board of Education and Charter Revision Commission.
“I am a dedicated advocate for our older residents, both as a member of the Commission on Aging and as president of the Friends of the Weston Senior Center.
“The additional money provided in the town budget, enhanced by philanthropic contributions from the Friends of the Senior Activities Center, will enable us to double the size of the Senior Center, give it a fresh clean look, and furnish it appropriately,” Daniel said.
Lorentzen is another long-time Weston resident, having lived in the area since 1978.
“I have been involved and contributed to the continuing improvements and expansion of the Senior Center for the last five years. In addition, we are faced with an expanding senior population exceeding 17 percent of the citizens in Weston. These folks have been and can continue to contribute to our way of life,” Lorentzen said a statement.
“Nina Daniel and Bruce Lorentzen are the type of volunteers that make our Weston community the wonderful place it is to live,” said Britta Lerner, RTC chair.
