Traffic Slows On Wet, Snow-Covered Roads Across Westport

11 a.m. update: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Few major traffic problems were reported as snow started falling during the Monday morning commute, but highways were wet and beginning to be covered by snow. Visibility was reduced in the wintry conditions. 

Original story: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Traffic was moving slowly at many of the usual spots on I-95 and some spinouts were reported along the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield County as snow began falling during the Monday morning commute. 

Spinouts were reported on the Merritt in Norwalk, Stamford and Greenwich, causing delays and slowdowns throughout the area. 

Traffic on I-95 was slowing southbound through Fairfield, at Route 7 in Norwalk and into Stamford as the morning commute progressed. 

Lighter than normal traffic was expected Monday with all schools closed in Fairfield County. More than 4 to 6 inches of snow is expected to accumulate Monday across Fairfield County. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Monday.
