Tractor-Trailer Crash Closes Lane, Delays Traffic On I-95 In Westport Area

update: WESTPORT, Conn. — The accident scene was cleared by 2:30 p.m. Friday, and all lanes of I-95 were reopened, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Residual traffic delays were reported.

original story: WESTPORT, Conn. — A tractor-trailer accident was blocking the two right lanes of I-95 northbound in Westport on Friday morning, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. 

The accident was reported between Exits 18 and 19 at 11:45 a.m., DOT said.

The DOT reported that a tractor-trailer truck had struck a "fixed object." Multiple reports said the truck hit the overpass or bridge abutment at Sasco Creek Road. 

The truck driver was reportedly pinned in the crash, according to multiple reports.

Delays of more than 4 miles were reported on I-95 in both directions in the Westport area, DOT said.

It was unclear how long it would take to clear the accident scene.
