A female driver escaped serious injuries after she lost control of her car on the Merritt Parkway northbound between exits 42 and 44 on Sunday.
Westport and Fairfield firefighters were called to the accident at about 10:15 a.m., but Fairfield firefighters were placed into service before their arrival at the scene. The woman told firefighters she lost control of her car after one of the tires blew out. She refused medical treatment and was not taken to the hospital. No other cars were involved in the accident, Assistant Westport Fire Chief Larry Conklin reported. The accident scene was cleared by 10:53 a.m.
