WESTPORT, Conn. Three residential burglaries were reported in two days in Westport, all within close proximity to each other, police said.
Miscellaneous electronics were stolen during an overnight burglary Dec. 19 at a home on Burritts Landing. There were no signs of forced entry, and the homeowners were home sleeping at the time the burglary occurred, Capt. Sam Arciola said. This is the second burglary that occurred while residents were asleep. The first happened Dec. 10, also at a Burritts Landing home , he said.
"These concern us the most," Arciola said. "Any burglary is concerning, but it's especially concerning when there are people inside sleeping when it happens."
A Sirius Satellite Radio was reported stolen from a home on Judy Point Lane on Dec. 19. Police believe the radio was stolen during an overnight burglary in which entry was made through sliding glass doors.
Another home on Burritts Landing was burglarized between 9 a.m. Dec. 16 and 3 p.m. Dec. 17. Arciola said there were no signs of forced entry, but two flat-screen TVs, miscellaneous electronics and jewelry were stolen.
These burglaries are among five reported since Dec. 10 . Arciola said police are "working closely" with residents in the area where the burglaries were reported. The department, he said, is "as always, asking the public to call us if they see or hear anything suspicious."
On Monday, the department issued a list of burglary prevention tips .
