A swastika was spray painted on a sign on Connors Lane, off Good Hill Road, Weston police said. The vandalism was reported at 9:17 a.m. Saturday.
The police department was investigating the incident as a hate crime, Police Chief John Troxell said. "We take this very seriously. These types of things tend to be a vandalism in nature and caused by youths in the area," said Troxell. "In my experience, it's usually a local youth that doesn't understand the ramifications of what it really means."
He said no problems have been reported in this area before this event. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Carl Filsinger at 203-222-2639.
