Strange Behavior Leads to Man's Arrest in Westport

A report of a man acting in a strange manner in a Westport parking lot led to the arrest of Stamford resident Mark Garrett on Tuesday night.

Garrett, 46, was found in the parking lot of 1070 Post Road E., police said. When officers were speaking to Garrett, he reportedly tried to place his hand in his right front pocket multiple times. For their safety, the officers searched Garrett and found a pill bottle. Police said the bottle contained eight oxycodone pills, four temazepam pills and two seraquil pills. Garret was charged with possession of a controlled substance and is scheduled to appear in court April 29.

• Ansonia resident Latoya Stewart was picked up at Bridgeport Adult Probation on Monday afternoon by Westport police on two warrants. Police said one warrant stems from 2009 motor vehicle charges on which Stewart, 23, allegedly failed to appear. The other stems from 2010 motor vehicle charges she allegedly failed to appear in court on. She was charged with two-counts of second-degree failure to appear and is scheduled to appear in court April 28.
