State 9/11 Memorial Service Set In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Connecticut residents will honor the victims of 9/11 terror attacks next Monday at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, a statement from Gov. Dannel Malloy’s office said.

The public is invited to attend the 11th annual Connecticut Remembers September 11 Memorial Service, which will also be attended by the family and friends of victims, as well as various state and local officials. During the ceremony, the names of the 153 Connecticut victims will be read. Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman will be the keynote speaker.

The event will also include the U.S. Coast Guard Cadet Glee Club, the Leathernecks of Connecticut and Marine Gunnery Sgt. Orville Grizzle, who will play “Taps.”

The service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to arrive by 5 p.m.
